Photography has been my passion since childhood and upon leaving school, with art being my best subject, my father made me attend a two year secretarial course at college as ‘good grounding’ for a career.  I dabbled in photography until the age of 40 when I attained my licenciate qualification with the MPA.  Along the way I have successfully entered competitions which obviously have given me a confidence boost and can only have helped in promoting my business.

The main area of my photographic business has been children – the MPA Cherub scheme, nurseries, schools, dance shows, photoshoot parties and now Fairies www.fairy-experience.com, which I have created myself.  The latter has grown into the largest part of my business and is mostly run as a promotion, although I do undertake private sittings.  In my talk I will cover running a promotion and talk at some point about The Fairy Experience. 

In this economic climate it is becoming harder to promote photography and convince the public that they need it.  The expectations of the public are higher and therefore we must stretch ourselves, as photographers, to give them something different and better.  I hope to give some ideas about providing something other than the white background.
