Other Occasional
Competitions
Currently, there is a PR competition with a handsome Fuji camera for the winning entry. Other competitions have been run at PTO, for example in 2004 & 2005, Hasselblad sponsored a competition. Over a three or four day period, delegates were able to borrow from Hasselblad the superb XPan panoramic 35mm camera for half a day. The brief was only to produce a set of 3 pictures to enter into a competition. The prize: A brand new Hasselblad XPan. The 2004 & 2005 winning panels are shown below :-

After the huge success of the Master Classes conducted by Llewellyn Robins in Egypt in 2011 where delegates were required to seek out artistic images - the PTO organisers have decided to continue with this competition for PTO 2014 to encourage delegates to see things differently. Delegates can create a piece of 'Inspirational Art' at anytime during their training week and submit the image or images at the end of the week for viewing and judging. A major prize will be awarded to the creator of the most inspirational work of art provided by one of our sponsoring companies!
For January 2014, PTO are inviting digital entries by CD/DVD to ensure all delegates have the opportunity to enter with minimal cost to themselves.

Entries are invited for submission at any time with a closing date of 30th November 2013. Delegates may submit any number of entries, however the first two images will be free of charge with a £5 or 5 Euro charge per additional image. Categories are PORTRAIT / WEDDING / OPEN. You must indicate the category and include your name on the face of the disc. If you are submitting into different categories please put your images into different folders with your name and categories clearly marked on the face of the disc. Your disc should be accompanied by any remittance due with your entry.

All photo competition submissions in the 2013 wedding and portrait categories must be commissioned work. Non-commissioned images i.e. those that you have not received payment for or those that are created for a non commercial use must be entered into the 'OPEN' category. No names to appear on the front of images and please supply borderless images.

All images will receive a critique by our judging panel in Lanzarote but the finalists will have been pre-selected with top quality prints made by One Vision - at no cost to the delegate. Prints will be taken out to Lanzarote and judged by a panel made up from the speakers and displayed during the week.

Entries on CD/DVD must be 300dpi jpgs and to 16 inch on the longest side. We aim to make all images 16 inch on the longest side, we will add sight-line and borders so please submit images only as requested to 300dpi (jpgs), no names, no sight-lines and no borders. Our laboratory sponsors One Vision Imaging will print all entries to the same high standard at 20" x 16" and mount them on lightweight foam board. Any entry which ignores these basic rules will be eliminated from the competition.

Superb trophies - sponsored by The Societies - will again be presented to the winners and runners-up. All short-listed entries receiving merits.

Finalists will be given the prints and their trophies to take home after the awards.
